About Sunyani Airport
Sunyani Airport is the main airport serving the town of Sunyani, the capital of Brong Ahafo in mid-western Ghana. The airport is operated by Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL). The airport first started functioning in 1942, as a communication outpost and aerodrome, for the use of the Allied Forces. It was abandoned before the war got over, but was reopened as a fully functioning airport in 1974.
Due to the limitation on the length of the runway to 1288 meters, the airport is unsuitable for medium range jets.
